Following each decennial Census Camden County must complete a redistricting process to balance the voting districts within our community. Camden County is working with the Georgia General Assembly’s Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Office to update the five districts in Camden County based on the population counted in the 2020 Census.
District boundaries will change to allow for population growth to be as equally distributed in each District as possible. Based off of the 2020 Census results, each of Camden County’s five districts would ideally have a population of 10,954 residents. New district boundary lines will be drawn to reflect shifts in population. These districts are for the Camden County Board of Commissioners and the Camden County Board of Education.
Draft map options are being considered and will be made available for public review in advance of the vote of adoption. Following approval by the Camden County Board of Commissioners, the Georgia General Assembly must vote to pass the maps and send them to Governor’s office for signature.
Camden County citizens are encouraged to make comments on redistricting via the Camden County website, www.camdencountyga.gov/redistricting. These comments will be shared with the Camden County Board of Commissioners.
