Seven New Firefighters Join Camden County Fire Rescue

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that the members of Recruit Class 2022-16 have completed their Basic Firefighter requirements. L’Shawn Bermudez, Dominick Esposito, Jaden Lee, Casey Franklin, Keenan Hanna, Joshua Harman, and Alaina Knapp were recognized at a graduation ceremony held last week.

In his keynote address, Waycross Fire Chief David Eddins encouraged the new firefighters to always strive to leave a positive impression on the public. Dozens of colleagues, family, and friends listened as similar sentiments and instructions were expressed by Camden County Fire Rescue (CCFR) Chief Terry Smith and others throughout the ceremony.

“These new firefighters are equipped to be valuable contributors to Camden County’s public safety thanks to assistance from our partners at Kingsland Fire Rescue and St. Marys Fire Department,” said CCFR Chief Terry Smith. “We continue to be thankful to the Board of Commissioners and county administration for their valuable ongoing support of this program and Camden County Fire Rescue.”

Members of Recruit Class 2023-16 selected Joshua Harman as their Class Speaker. Dominick Esposito was recognized as Most Improved. Keenan Hanna received the Top Rung Award for Physical Fitness. Joshua Harman and Alaina Knapp were both recognized for the Highest-Grade Point Average of 94.7. Additionally, Joshua Harman and Alaina Knapp have completed the training and testing to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

The ten-week program included both classroom and practical skills training to prepare firefighter recruits for earning state certification. Instructors recognized during the graduation ceremony include: Training Captain Jeffrey Jones, Captain Keith Brown, Sergeant Jamie Marr, Sergeant Mark Hammitt, Lieutenant Chris Goebel and Zip Amerine.
