Money stays in Georgia
Used exclusively to neuter cats and dogs.
Contributions are 100% tax deductible. Spend your dollars wisely.
If an accountant prepares your form, please ask him/her to remind other clients about the check-off.
The program is seriously depleted. The number of surgeries a veterinarian can perform each month was drastically reduced to make sure the program will continue.
There is high demand for the fund from individuals and groups.
Many humane societies and rescue groups use the fund to neuter animals allowing them to do more.
The fund was created in 2002 by a majority of the voters in Georgia thanks to Representative Lynmore James (D-135) and Senator Robert Brown (D-26).
The check-off was created to add additional funding in 2005 thanks to Representative Gene Maddox (R-172) and Senator John Bulloch (R-11).
The Program:
receives NO state funding.
provides set payments to veterinarians to reduce the cost of spay/neuter.
is open to all Georgians; there is NO income requirement to participate.
Spay/neuter is a healthy choice that saves animal lives and tax dollars.
Fewer animals born means fewer killed in public shelters saving tax dollars.
55,000 plus spay/neuter procedures have been performed by more than 1,000 veterinarians with participation in all 159 Georgia counties.
Urge your veterinarian to participate in the program. Any licensed and accredited veterinarian may participate and offer the program to clients who need it.

Thousands of otherwise healthy and happy dogs and cats are killed each year in Georgia shelters; there are not enough homes for these excess animals.
This program is the best of its kind in the country.
Personally funding and facilitating the neuter of an animal of a family member or friend is probably the best way to reduce animal overpopulation. The program is the next best thing!
Fewer animals born means better lives, less cruelty and fewer killed in our animal shelters, on our highways and from starvation, predators and exposure.
The program can also be funded by buying one of the three automobile license plates:
Animal Friend
Buddy Plate
Cat Tag
The program can also be funded by donations and grants or making a contribution to honor someone or send a memorial. A personalized certificate from the Dog and Cat Sterilization Program will be sent - usually the same day - if you send instructions with your contribution that include the 1) recipient 2) sender and 3) the occasion or what specifically you want to say to:
DCSP

When you consider adding a companion animal to your family, think rescue groups and animal shelters FIRST. Adopting dogs and cats from shelters and rescue groups helps curb overpopulation in our state and it is the right thing to do.
Please counsel everyone about the serious commitment of adopting an animal.
It is your business since it is your tax money that pays to kill our excess animals.
