Camden County Board of Commissioners Reduce Millage Rates

At their October 3, 2023, meeting, the Camden County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to reduce the county-wide General Fund millage rate for 2023 by taking the full rollback rate.

The approved millage rate for 2023 is 13.139 mills, a 6.15% reduction from the 2022 millage rate. The Unincorporated Tax District will also take the full rollback reducing the millage rate from 1.275 in 2022 to 1.207 for 2023, or 5.33%.

“The Board of Commissioners is pleased to once again reduce the millage rate for Camden County residents. Our strong financial position allows us to provide this relief to our taxpayers,” said Chairman Ben Casey. “We continue to have $0 general fund debt, $0 unfunded pension liabilities, strong reserves, and competitive wages and benefits for employees.”

As a result of this reduction, property owners whose values stayed the same from 2022 to 2023 or have homestead exemption freeze will see a reduced bill for the county portion of their property taxes. When considering a 13.139 operating millage rate, the annual tax bill for a home with a value of $200,000 with homestead exemption would be lowered by $65.44. Property tax bills will be mailed to all property owners later this year.
