[ARCHIVED] Public Notice Post-Irma Shelters

Local solutions are limited because the same power, water and sewer outages. Local churches are able and willing to establish temporary (24-48 hours) shelters using limited food on hand and portable toilets.


These shelters are:

In St. Marys

In Kingsland

First Baptist Church Kingsland

295 E Chester St, Kingsland

The Kings Village

451 South Lee Street, Kingsland


For those unable to rely on friends and families for assistance, local officials are partnering with neighboring counties to accept citizens in temporary, but longer term shelters. Citizens able to travel independently are encouraged to do so. For those who have no means of travel to one of the out-of-county shelters, arrangements are being made to provide transportation by school or department of corrections buses. The resources of every agency are being fully employed to create solutions for the citizens of Camden County. While we know communication is important, the priority now must be the safety and health of residents now in the county.
