[ARCHIVED] Camden County Fire Rescue Receives Assistance to Firefighters Grant

The main goal of the AFG is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire-related hazards by providing direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments, non affiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations, and State Fire Training Academies.

"I am thrilled that we received these grant monies to train new paramedics,” said Camden County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief and EMS Director Charles Lowther. “The addition of new paramedics will reduce our current shortage, enhance the public’s safety, and save tax payer money by eliminating the need for additional overtime. We will also be able to improve the level of service we provide to the citizens of Camden County.”

Upon class completion, participants will be able to sit for the National Registry test to receive National Paramedic Certification. Classes will be led by Rescue Training, Inc., an organization approved by the Georgia Department of Public Health Office of EMS & Trauma to teach paramedic courses, and will begin after the start of the year at a satellite campus in Waycross.
