[ARCHIVED] Camden County Residents Encouraged to Monitor Changes to Hurricane Florence Forecast

Camden County Board of Commissioners, Camden County Sheriff’s Office, and Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials are partnering with the cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine, along with Camden County Schools, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay Emergency Management, and the National Weather Service (NWS) to continue to determine potential impacts of Hurricane Florence on our community.

Camden County EMA officials are continuing to carefully monitor the still-changing track of Hurricane Florence for possible impacts to our local area, and recommend all citizens remain actively engaged by following Camden County Emergency Management for updates regarding the storm. Local residents are also encouraged to visit the National Hurricane Center, www.nhc.noaa.gov, and the National Weather Service Office in Jacksonville, www.weather.gov/jax, as trusted sites for weather related information.

Although Governor Nathan Deal has issued a State of Emergency, this declaration is general in nature, focused on preparing the state for possible impacts, by ensuring that critical resources such as fuel and other goods are available. The Governor’s declaration of emergency does not require any local action for Camden residents at this time other than to be prepared.

All Camden County residents are urged to sign-up for the CodeRED Emergency Notification System by visiting www.camdencountyga.gov/CodeRED. CodeRED is critical during situations like this as a direct method of communication from Camden County EMA to your landline, cell phone, or email. TDD/TTY service is also available. Participants will be notified in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts.

Local residents should continue to monitor Camden County Website, Camden County EMA Facebook and Camden County EMA Twitter for updates.
