[ARCHIVED] Camden County Fire Rescue Receives Grant for Emergency Medical Technician Basic Course

This program is made possible by State of Georgia funding provided through the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission.

Instructors from Camden County Fire Rescue and the St. Marys Fire Department are leading this class of firefighters from both departments as well as the Kingsland Fire Department. Upon completion, students will be able to take the National Registry EMT test. After passing the test and receiving their Georgia license numbers, class graduates may work on an ambulance with a paramedic.

“I am excited about the opportunity for our firefighters to take the EMT-B course locally,” said Camden County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief and EMS Director Charles Lowther. “This class will improve the level of service we provide to the citizens of Camden County.”

This grant aided in funding the instructors’ salaries and the purchase of books. Additionally, students will receive a jump bag and safety vest.  This 200-hour course began on July 6th and will continue through September 7th. As part of the classwork, students will complete clinical hours on ambulances.
