The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) has awarded a 2018 Innovation Award to the Coastal Regional Commission (CRC) for their work on the Camden County Joint Addressing Ordinance and Manual.
The Planning and Development Department, in partnership with the CRC and consultant Spatial Focus, coordinated the adoption of a Joint Addressing Ordinance and Manual. The implementation of this ordinance provided a unified voice for assigning and maintaining address data. This collaboration includes all three municipalities, the City of Kingsland, the City of St. Marys, and the City of Woodbine, as well as the Camden County Board of Commissioners, E-911 Center, and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. The ordinance works collectively with the E-911 Center and the Sheriff’s Office by syncing with the New World software system to provide faster and more accurate response times.
Each year, NADO recognizes member organizations, like the CRC, that demonstrate innovative approaches to regional economic and community development through their Innovation Awards program. Over 1,500 NADO member projects have been recognized since 1986 for their creative efforts in advancing regional economic development and improved quality of life.
