[ARCHIVED] Polling Location Reassessment

Currently, two elementary schools, Kingsland and Mary Lee Clark, along with St. Marys Middle School, are all Election Day polls, as is the local Salvation Army and several fire stations throughout the county.

“Although schools provide convenient and accessible locations for voters, there are concerns for student safety due to the increased scrutiny surrounding elections,” said Elections Supervisor Shannon Nettles. “The Salvation Army currently houses two precincts on Election Day with limited space and parking. This is the same concern for the fire stations serving as polling locations, coupled with the potential for voters and Election Day workers to possibly impede emergency responses.”

The BoER is holding two public hearings to receive elector comments concerning the relocation of selected polling sites scheduled for August 15, 2019. The first public hearing will be in the Commissioners Meeting room on the 2nd Floor of the Government Services Complex located at 200 E. 4th Street in Woodbine at 11:30 a.m., with the second public hearing taking place at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the County Annex, 107 North Gross Road in Kingsland.
