1. What type of permits are required?

Permits are required for Buildings, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Swimming Pools/Spas, Carport/Garage/Shed, Home Additions and Alterations.

2. How do I obtain an address for my property?

You will be issued an address for your property when you apply for a permit.

3. How long does it take to get a building permit?

For all new projects, applications and plans must be in to the office by 5:00 pm on Thursday. A review committee meets the following Wednesday to review all applications. If approved, the permit can be issued immediately.

4. Does my permit have an expiration date?

Yes, a permit expires within six months from the date of issue.

5. What do I need for a business license?

You will need a government issued photo ID and the business address has to be located in the unincorporated area of Camden County. If you are not the property owner, we will need a copy of your lease or an owner authorization signed by the property owner giving you permission to have the business on their property. 

A business license is issued within one week after receipt of application if the request is approved for the zoning of the property.

6. Where are the Planning and Development Meetings and how often are they?

The meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Camden County Annex Building, 107 N Gross Rd, Kingsland, GA 31548.

7. What are the rules for Recreational Vehicles (RVs)?

An RV is considered a vehicle and not a residence. It cannot be used for a residence and it if is being used as a dwelling it is in violation of the Zoning Ordinance and subject to action by Code Enforcement. RV’s are allowed in designated RV parks.

8. Will the County enforce the covenants in my subdivision?

No, the County does not enforce private covenants. The County only enforces laws in the Code of Ordinances. The individual property owners associations are responsible for the enforcement of covenants.
